Established in February 2011, Worsthorne Brewing Company is one of the newest breweries in Lancashire. The brewery was originally intended to be based in Worsthorne, a small village just outside Burnley on the cusp of the Pennine moors. After an arduous search for suitable premises, we opened our doors a short distance away in Briercliffe, another village on the edge of the moors.
Our Briercliffe brewery is a 10 barrel plant run by owner Michael Whittaker, together with Head Brewer Rob Hockedy and Assistant Brewer Stephen Whittaker.
Worsthorne beers are quickly gaining a reputation for their quality, and can be found in many pubs and clubs around the area. They are enjoyed in Pendle, Rossendale, North and West Yorkshire, the Ribble Valley and Burnley.
Worsthorne Beer is a quality, handcrafted product, and has won awards at prestigious beer competitions. Our 'Old Trout', won a Gold medal for 'Best Premium Bitter' at the SIBA NW Beer Competition in Bolton in 2014, and was subsequently entered into the National Finals at Beer X in Sheffield in 2015. Likewise, Blackthorne Stout won a Bronze medal in the 2016 competition.
Our brewery is fully licenced, and we do offer brewery tours, but only by prior arrangement. We can offer bar facilities for functions, please contact us for details. We are also able to offer casks or pins for private parties etc, and we are able to provide a beer pump for a small fee.
Our team is comprised of many talented indivduals- all of whom share a passion for quality real ale.
